HER LITTLE MACHINES
Burton Barr Central Library gallery, September 2nd-October 15th, 2016 - all work is for sale, price upon request
A collection of three miniseries’, The Aftermath, The Chimeras, and The Little Machines, these pieces collectively offer a glimpse into a world of my own creation. Perhaps it’s a parallel universe, a dreamscape, an imagining of outer space or the microscopic, or a snapshot of our own world in the distant past or future. Through the lens of this other place I can explore and escape my own reality.

THE LITTLE MACHINES
These pieces are intaglio based print collages that have been drawn into using charcoal. They have undergone several transformations throughout their lifetime, and thematically have become as much about the act of making as they are about the final visual. Through the acts of collage and hand drawing I have imposed organization upon randomness, using my own energy and logic to arrange the abstract elements together. As such, these giant collage pieces offer a portrait of my thoughts, movements, and visual intuition over several years.
Within the imagery, chaos melds with structure, the organic merges with geometry, illusionistic decay sits alongside actual torn and weathered material. The scale and imagery chases the sublime, hinting at visions of primordial earth or galactic events.
For THE AFTERMATH and THE CHIMERAS artist statements, see respective tabs under "Exhibitions" and "Portfolio".
